Today's Jerry Fielding's birthday.
Modernist composer Jerry Fielding was born in June 17, 1922.
I discovered Fielding while watching "Mission: Impossible".
He gave MISSION's season 3 and 4 its distinctive sound which was stylistically similar to "The Wild Bunch" arrangements.
He had a tense martial jazz-oriented style full of ominous sneaky violin use and lethal drum arrangements.
The first soundtrack I bought from him was "The Wild Bunch" thanks to the Warner Bros first edition plus four volumes of Bay Cities CDs. Then, I was aware of his work through Universal shows like "Kolchak, The Night Stalker" and "The Bionic Woman" season 1. Later on, I stepped into his scores through Clint Eastwood, Sam Peckinpah, Michael Winner and Desilu Productions ("Star Trek" and "Mannix").
Favourite Film Works:
