For the 2013 gripping drama Siddharth, composer Andrew Lockington composed a compelling, yet restrained score. Delicate and flavored with ethic sound reflecting the Indian based setting, the score is powerful in its serenity. One of the score's highlights is seven-plus minute The Search For Absolute Truth, which Lockington composed by simply watching the scene and playing it out. It poured out of him as he was swept away by the emotion of the story. It is true artistry at work. This intimate score that accompanies a small film about hope in the face of despair, of not giving up at any cost might be easy to overlook amidst larger more mainstream fare, and Intrada is proud to bring greater exposure to this gem.
The Siddharth album was produced by the composer and is a companion to Intrada's CD of Lockington's score to I'll Follow You Down released by Intrada last year.
Mehtaâs stranger becomes Mahendra Saini (Rajesh Tailang), a chain-wallah who fixes broken zippers on the streets of Delhi. He sends his son, Siddharth, to work in a trolley factory to alleviate the family's financial burdens. But when the boy fails to return, Mahendra learns he may have been taken. With little resources and no connections, he travels across India in pursuit, with the hope that whatever force took his child away will return him unharmed.
