We are deeply saddened by the passing of composer - and dear friend - Arthur B. Rubinstein. We first met him here at Intrada when he came up and joined us for several days working on the premiere of his complete score for WarGames, a sensational 1983 soundtrack previously available only as a music and dialog highlights album. We were honored when Arthur invited us in 2011 to release a newly-commissioned concert work entitled Observations, scored for full orchestra and recorded by the Symphony In The Glen in conjunction with the reknowned Griffith Observatory’s launch of their Cosmic Conjunctions program. Our CD featured the 21-minute piece both in its purely orchestral version as well as in a version for orchestra with narration by Leonard Nimoy, written for an historic Observatory concert event that featured several other classical works under Arthur’s direction, also included on the album.
The news was especially heart-breaking as it came literally amidst our working with Arthur on mixing and mastering two oft-requested yet never-before-released soundtracks of his, both world premieres of which he was excited to be working on. Sadly these two albums appear to be the very last recordings he will have personally been involved with. He will be missed but never forgotten.
Those of you who enjoy spending time on our Forum will have noticed by now it is temporarily unavailable. This is not due to California’s ever-unpredictable weather but rather normal maintenance affairs accompanying our Forum’s migration to a new host. We’ll have it back up and available very soon.
