It’s great that so many of you are taking advantage of our sale. The last one was a year ago so it’s not an event we put together lightly around here. A lot of titles are selling down quickly… and ironically we’ll even need to re-press a few after the sale ends this coming Wednesday, April 26. One sort of fun observation. About the only two titles receiving scant attention are from films directed by Otto Preminger: Bunny Lake Is Missing and Hurry Sundown. No love for Preminger? (Not counting In Harm’s Way, of course.) I love both of the two scores on sale but I can see I’m in the minority. Especially Bunny Lake Is Missing. By turns elegiac and haunting, complex and powerful. One of the really great symphonic scores of the 1960’s. Maybe Paul Glass is just too intense for today’s audiences.
In any case, thank you for being patient with your orders. As I sit here playing miniature golf in my office, snacking on pretzels and watching YouTube, I see off in the distance Jeff and the other hamsters spinning in all directions, working their tails off for you. I promise, as always, to toss them a few extra pellets at the end of the sale. Or maybe even let them fight over a pretzel.
