12/8/10 We'll wrap up our new releases schedule for this year with four titles landing on Tuesday, December 14. Artwork and sound samples will be posted on Monday the 13th and orders will begin shipping on the 14th. I think there's something for just about everybody in this batch. One disc offers two exciting scores from the fifties, one disc offers pure action from the early nineties and another disc presents the first truly complete release of a popular epic score, newly mixed and mastered from 2" 24-track master elements for spectacular sound - all previous releases came from 1/4" tape. Our fourth title offers a famous composer's most oft-requested-for-expansion score, originally available in a heavily truncated 38-minute album. Now the entire 90-minute score becomes available at last, presented from multi-track session masters for glorious stereo sound spread across two dynamic discs. Two very colorful artwork campaigns were created for the movie itself. We had some discussion over which one to use for our cover and finally opted to use both - one on the booklet front and one on the back. That way you can choose your own favorite. Golly. 12/10/10 We just added a bunch of titles to the sometimes neglected "Anything Goes" category. You'll find bargains galore! Stuff we overbought, various limited editions, cool titles, discs that disappointed... pretty much anything goes. Quantities are limited to just what we have on hand, of course. Hopefully you'll find stuff worth your while. That way, we'll have some extra room for other things! 12/14/10 Here's a quick heads up on CLASH OF THE TITANS. We divided our manufacturing order with Sony's plant into two batches of 1500 copies each to control inventory and costs over the holidays with so many projects happening at once. However, the first 1500 sets sold out faster than anticipated. We have already re-ordered the second batch of 1500 units and expect them to arrive early in January. Feel free to order the title now and we'll ship it as soon as they are back in stock. Since the title is moving quickly, be aware that the remaining 1500 copies will be the final batch for this release. I really appreciate how many people appear to enjoy this score. I always thought of it as one of Larry Rosenthal's finest. While we were editing the album, he pointed out to me that it was "a lot better than I remembered it being. It's pretty good". Needless to say, I told him that was quite an under statement. 12/15/10 This may be pretty obvious but it's really busy back here right now. There have been lots of releases over the last few days and many are pretty exciting indeed: expanded editions of STAR TREK V, CARRIE, CLASH OF THE TITANS, FLESH + BLOOD, POLTERGEIST, BATMAN RETURNS, HOME ALONE, A MAN CALLED HORSE, DEDICATO AL MARE EGEO, JESUS OF NAZARETH, premieres of NAVY SEALS, JADE, ON THE THRESHOLD OF SPACE, FAMILY PLOT, TAPS... and we're still filling orders for FIRST BLOOD, PATTON, SUNSET BOULEVARD and others from a couple of weeks ago. The pending holidays are certainly adding to the excitement, too. So it's just a lot of hustle and bustle here right now. It's a great time for collector's with choices up the wazoo. What fun! But for the hamsters processing orders and wrapping boxes in our mailroom, it's more like zero fun. So please be patient while we get your orders filled as quickly as possible. Thanks! 12/24/10 While we typically close for a few days from Christmas (December 25) through the start of the New Year, we'll have a less predictable schedule in place over the next two weeks or so due to the holidays, vacations and whatnot. Jeff (who manages sales) and George (who spearheads shipping) will both be on cruises and other travel. Steve (now working full-time in the mail room) will be here throughout the holidays, albeit he doesn't actively work in sales. Wendy, who handles our books, will be around on various days. Roger is on vacation as well and unavailable. That leaves me... who will be in and out at whim throughout the holidays and who remains generally clueless outside of production. The bottom line is that we will have limited hours of operation from today through the first week of the new year. We'll be fully staffed and working back at full capacity after that. Our next new release date will be January 10, when we'll have a couple of cool new titles to offer. In the meantime, I hope the holidays find you and your loved ones safe, enjoying meaningful time together and sharing in good will. 12/31/10 Happy New Year's Eve! I managed to stay on top of the orders placed over the last couple of days without having Jeff around. Golly. But it'll sure be nice when he (and George and Roger) are all back in their stations 'cause then not only will the orders get processed but they'll even get mailed out. So, as a reminder from my Christmas Eve post: we'll have a wacky schedule through January 10, albeit someone will usually be on hand to keep the fort from burning down. In other words, certain queries and other fun conversations about movie music may be set aside for a few days but orders will be processed... unless something is back-ordered, of course. And just about the time Jeff returns, we'll have the second and final batch of CLASH OF THE TITANS sets back in stock - though many of those are already claimed. Must be that expanded "Medusa" track! |
