My thanks to you 1200 people who made THE WAY WEST a fast sell-out. So many of those United Artists LPs from the sixties were gems and this was one of them. Thanks to Film Score Monthly, Varese Sarabande (and us, too) lots of them have appeared on CD over the last few years. And there are still more titles back there in the vaults. What a prolific label that UA was!

Here's one of those "be patient" pleas. With the instant sell-out of THE WAY WEST and more than 2000 orders of HONEY I SHRUNK THE KIDS landing on top of each other, we're pretty busy. Some people are already phoning in to ask where their orders are, to which we can only respond that we're processing them as fast as we can.
There actually was a time when you read on a cereal box about ordering a cool secret wrist-radio for $2 plus a box-top and then had to allow 4-6 weeks for delivery. But everyone wants it done within 24 hours now. Fair enough. So the hamsters are going at it back here, working overtime, skipping lunches... okay not skipping lunches but taking short breaks, anyway.
So your orders will be processed as quickly as we possibly can. Thanks!

We mentioned earlier that MALONE, impressive as it is, remains a slow selling CD. So we're deleting it from our catalog on April 7 to make room for some pretty exciting stuff coming out in April.
It's taken a while but ZONE TROOPERS (coupled with THE ALCHEMIST ) has been steadily trickling down. We now have less than 200 copies in stock. Richard Band has a loyal following and experience tells us that at some point his CDs do sell out. So if you've been thinking about this one, you may want to act pretty soon. You could even order a copy of MALONE while you're at it. You'd be getting David Newman and Richard Band music in the same box. Golly.

I once again feel the world getting smaller. With Sunday's news of the passing of Maurice Jarre, I'm thinking about my all-too brief relationship with him and his music: a tiny meeting with him after releasing his score to THE NIGHT OF THE GENERALS, some correspondence after recently producing a CD for FIRES WITHIN... perhaps one of the last albums crossing paths with him. I'm also thinking about first discovering his music with LAWRENCE OF ARABIA, getting further excited when I saw his name on the credits to THE TRAIN and - like many others - rapidly becoming a fan of everything he did. Such treasures he created for us!
Most fans go for the big ones, the David Lean epics, whatnot. My personal favorites go the other direction. They're smaller, less ambitious. THE COLLECTOR. It tops my list but I can't explain why. His harmonies? His writing for oboe and bassoon? The mood? I don't know.
BEHOLD A PALE HORSE follows... probably for the same reasons as the above. What sensitivity, what haunting melody, what music!
I'll be listening to both albums for the next few nights and I'll be thinking that whether his music was filling massive canvases or intimate ones... it was extraordinary.
