Things have really gone in a tailspin under the current administration and you can do something about it. Help your party of choice find their man - or woman.

To those of you who enjoy our Forum, we're experiencing a brief interruption in our service. Not to worry. We're just moving the Forum to a larger server. We hadn't anticipated the downtime would be happening just now but none-the-less it's being addressed as I write. When we do finalize the actual move we'll post the new Forum address here, of course. When that happens we anticipate another interruption of about two days while the changeover occurs. It'll give you some extra time to formulate your intelligent thoughts!

If I've left off a digit it'll get sorted out in the morning. This is a pretty big transition and we're trying to keep it going smoothly. In fact, Mark (my webmaster) is probably still working away at his coding and whatnot. On the other hand, maybe he's gone to bed by now. Whatever. I consider myself fortunate to have him around.

And yes - we're on target with two new releases for this coming Tuesday. One title's a two-CD set and the other title's almost long enough to need two CDs - but not quite.

The height of stupidity... and a coda to a really surreal week.

First, my heartfelt thanks to all of you for writing such thoughtful letters expressing sympathy over the passing of my dad. Hearing from you this week has meant a lot to me.

Now, the stupidity. I've been going around for a few weeks here muttering under my breath about a pain in my foot. I finally did the smart thing and saw my doctor. I should've done that sooner, of course. She promptly sent me over to the hospital for exams and X-rays. The short of it is... I've been walking around on a broken foot all this time.

After the exams, the specialist then said - and I am not making this up - "either you've got an amazing tolerance for pain, or you're pretty stupid."

Yep. We agreed on the latter.

Some people have been incredibly passionate about the Blu-ray/HD-DVD format war. Even as a winner seems to have emerged, I still see a lot of loud letters in forums and columns everywhere. I hope they stop.

While I'm happy Blu-ray's still standing, I'm saddened to think of how many people that supported HD-DVD will probably lose money as a result. Anyone buying DVDs of any type - and soundtracks, for that matter - supports the movie industry. I take no pleasure in seeing these folks getting hurt.

If you feel a need to cheer for Blu-ray's apparent success, don't shake those pom-poms in the faces of people who made a different choice. Let's just get on with hi-def movies - which is what this is supposed to be about - and leave the battle scars and whatnot in the dust.

Some secrets won't stay buried. So says the movie's tagline. Actually, we're still in production on BONE DRY but want to ensure our CD has some exposure now since the DVD is just hitting stores. BONE DRY is a desert-set thriller from Brett A. Hart and stars Luke Goss, Lance Henriksen and Dee Wallace. Scott Glasgow has written a very dramatic score. One of the really cool things he's done is he's composed these large, expansive harmonic ideas and written tinier little ideas within them. He's also used some really austere harmonies that enhance the barren landscape. In a few choice spots, Scott even incorporates some bi-tonal chords. Wow! And just to keep some human interest in the mix, he's created a very haunting minor-key line for piano that simmers just below the surface of his complex and involved score. And he even writes a large-scale "symphony" of sorts for the FILMharmonic Orchestra of Prague to help bring the entire score to a moving and dramatic close with.
