I recently watched the film “the cleanse” from 2018 and thought it was great! A very underrated creature feature with an emotional core. This was, of course, aided by it’s score, which I found to be very engaging. Very similar to the tone of the film itself, the score pretty seamlessly goes between being mysterious, scary, and even very heartfelt when it needs to be. I was pretty bummed out to discover that there has been no official release of the score (aside from three cues on composer, Russ Howard’s website, who composed additional music for the film).

I read that Rob Simonsen was originally set to compose the score, but ended up bringing on ESKMO, another composer he has worked with, to do so. Ultimately all three composers are credited in the film (with Simonsen getting top billing) so it’s possible that Mr. Simonsen composed most of the score, with ESKMO and Howard only writing additional music.

Whatever the case is, I really hope this score receives a release. Either digitally or on cd.
