I hope Intrada will take this sequel franchise of complete soundtracks all the way and include Psycho IV: The Beginning. Although it uses a lot of re recorded cues from the original Psycho score by Bernard Herrmann, it still has enough original cues and differences in the re recorded cues to make it interesting and worth listening to.

I concur! There was a bootleg a few years back with noticeable hiss throughout. Apparently, it was from a tape of a recording session that leaked out. Plenty of great material here.

I can't tell if you are serious or not about the Danny Elfman version. As a Psycho fan, I try very hard to forget that version exists. Perhaps, as bad, if not worse, is the original 1987 "Bates Motel" pilot. I would say that is to Psycho as what the Star Wars Holiday Special became to that franchise. It's just an embarrassment.

The remake sucks but the Elfman/Bartek treatment of the original Herrmann score is quite good! No joke here and Roger at Intrada is a fan too. On the FSM board a year or two back he said he was very interested in pursuing an expansion.

I for one would be interested. Not that I don’t hope the original Herrmann comes out legally too at some point.

I just thought a shot by shot remake is a pointless approach. And the casting was an odd choice to say the least. I remember thinking they should have just released a colorized version of the original instead. I much prefer what the recent Bates Motel series did by changing many aspects of the characters and back story but keeping the same iconic looking set pieces with subtle differences. As far as the Star Wars Special comparison, I was referring to the 1987 Bates Motel. I'd love to see that one with a rip track. It's awful!
