I had no idea this Universal film was scored by Delerue!! Is there any hope for surviving tapes? Was this ever released? Wow!

If you haven't seen the movie for a while, you may have overlooked that there is an almost total absence of dramatic scoring in the movie (i.e. suspenseful writing over the opening, robust end credits and just about none during the course of the movie). This begs the question whether Delerue composed and recorded more music which director Fred Zinnemann chose not to use. If anyone knows please clarify the situation. (The director and composer collaborated previously on A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS and, after a splendid opening, the dramatic scoring is likewise almost totally missing.) With the later JULIA there is more dramatic scoring (but just as much source music) as released on one side of an old DRG LP. For his final movie FIVE DAYS ONE SUMMER Zinnemann chose initially Carl Davis to score, but ultimately rejected that effort with music by Elmer Bernstein.
