This movie adaptation of George Bernard Shaw's play was shot in England and features many British personnel behind the scenes, including a very young Richard Rodney Bennett. Though composed when he was in his early '20's, this score shows his mastery and sophistication even at that time. It's interesting that although his orchestral palette for the most part is fairly limited, it does feature the harpsichord, an instrument to which he'd return in BILLION DOLLAR BRAIN and LADY CAROLINE LAMB. To supplement the running time, maybe we could couple this with a re-issue of BILLION DOLLAR BRAIN (i.e. the album program) as both would hail from MGM Home Entertainment.
