Post subject: | James Newton Howard - Space Jam |
Considering Space Jam 2 is currently in production, a compete release of the original's score would be fitting. While not as emotional as "Who Framed Roger Rabbit", that is to be expected, since Looney Tunes isn't usually emotionally heavy. Nevertheless, I feel the score is rather underrated. Much of the score is attributed to Carl Stalling's style, but James Newton Howard doesn't fail to show off his orchestral chops, and even providing occasional tenderness throughout. This would also pose as an opportunity to provide unreleased material to fans. As evidenced by the official score album release, there is unheard material in plain sight, i.e. the track "The Second Half" occurs while the song "Get Ready For This" plays. Even further, my research finds that the first cue heard in the film (the one that plays before "I Believe I Can Fly") is actually around a minute-and-a-half long, as opposed to the 25 seconds that we hear. |
