I just gave the film "Eight legged freaks" a watch and let me tell you, it hasn't aged very well. I'm sure for the time the CGI spiders were amazing but now not so much...but one thing captivated me, John Ottoman's score. He adds his signature touch to the film with his brilliant score, even going as far to give the giant female spider "Consuela" her own theme comprised of castanets and low brass. But as time went on something kept bothering me, now I had listened to the score many times and found that some cues were missing, After doing a little research I found that there was an expanded release of the soundtrack. Rare yes but I found the songs one way or another. Now I'm a sucker for shorter cues, though forgettable to some, films like arachnophobia use short but eerie cues to its advantage. Eight legged freaks is no exception and has its moments. For instance, Mikes call to Joshua's is an excellent use of shorter cues, a low eerie tone is set with the faint rattling various percussion. It adds atmosphere to the scene and shouldn't be overlooked. Considering the expanded score is hard to come by, I think this film would benefit from a COMPLETE release, featuring all cues.
