Hello!! Does anyone know if this future release by Sony is possible? Are the rights no longer owned by Varese? http://www.soundtrackcorner.de/ghostbus ... -p8230.htm

This was released in the limited Varese CD Club...since they were licensing for a specific limited number, Varese did not bother to get perpetuity rights for most of these (a couple apparently exceptions off the top of my head are Goldsmith's Raggedy Man and The Ballad of Cable Hogue...basically check and see what they've got up digitally on iTunes and the like if you want to know what they control).

Most Club releases can (and some have) later been released by other labels. For example, LLL released Magic after Varese premiered it in their Club, and added a previously unreleased 25 second cue in the process. Intrada greatly expanded (to two discs!) the Varese premiere of the original Sand Pebbles recording, years afterwards.

So it's really no surprise that Varese didn't control Ghostbusters, which was similarly a limited Club release. LLL was rumored to be pursuing a definitive expanded edition for some time apparently (along with a premiere of Edelman's Ghostbusters II), but at some point it was delayed or cancelled because of the reboot, and now it seems Sony wanted it for themselves.
