I would definitely love to see a new edition of Francis Lai's Live For Life (Vivre Pour Vivre) being released! Maybe Music Box Records are the best bet?

As we've recently had several vintage titles from this composer, how about this score (which followed A MAN AND A WOMAN by a few months)? The lustre attached to the earlier Claude Lelouch movie seems to have left LIVE FOR LIFE (starring Yves Montand, Annie Girardot and Candice Bergen) in something of a limbo. This also applies to the music which has seen little life on CD. (There was a 1988 coupling of this with A MAN AND A WOMAN on the AZ label, but this seems to have been mastered off vinyl. Later Japanese editions of VIVRE POUR VIVRE are hind to find and expensive.) So, just as we've had a remastered edition of A MAN AND A WOMAN from Kritzerland a few years back, there is a chasm waiting to be filled for a likewise edition of LIVE FOR LIFE (even if only the LP program is still available). |
