Considering that Universal has done such an exception job in the restoration of this movie for DVD, can one venture that there may be suitable musical elements available for release? (For many it would be preferable to entirely forget this 1956 John Wayne vehicle and simply enjoy the music.) It must have been one of the composer's last projects and fully worthy of spinning in our CD players.

That's a very good question. I would love to see a release of this score on CD. Recent news from Brandeis University shows that what they have on THE CONQUEROR is very far from complete. I wonder if any label has checked with Universal regarding what they have that could be turned into a CD. Unfortunately, sales on Victor Young compositions have been disappointing to some CD labels which make me wonder if any labels would even be interested in finding out if anything exists.

Maybe a reissue of THE RUSSIANS ARE COMING, THE RUSSIANS ARE COMING? Or PRETTY POISON (another Twilight Time, but I think is a music & effects track so isolated score could be missing)

A CD of THE CONQUEROR would be an instant purchase for me. Has the music survived? Another top Victor Young / Max Steiner score I'd love to see is CHINA GATE! More Victor Young CDs please ........
