With the recent death of John Morris, hopefully there will be some attention on his more obscure projects. This 1985 score is quite strong, but unfortunately has languished because of the unfortunate reception of the movie. It's important in that it's a reminder that the composer was capable of more than scoring comedies (though some may describe the movie as a 'black comedy'). As often with Morris, this was a commission from Mel Brooks' company (which also gave us THE ELEPHANT MAN, one of the composer's greatest triumphs). |
