I did post this here once, but didn’t really go into it too much. Misery was Marc Shaiman’s first major score, and is nothing short of great! Rather then traditional horror score cliches, it takes itself in a more beautiful and eerie direction. There was a cd release for Misery, which luckily did contain a good chunk of music from the film. It was however, mostly suites instead of individual tracks (with the exception of “open house” and “go to your room”). That and a few important cues where omitted. With all of this said, I think it would make a great addition to intrada’s ever growing collection. Hopefully someday Misery makes it onto their list.

Here’s a rough track listing of the music that’s heard in the film.
 Paul Sheldon
 Number One Fan
 Compound Fracture
 Paul Gets A Shave
 Soup / Profanity Bothers Annie
 I love You Paul
 Buster
 A Clue
 Buster Turns Back
 Paul The Poet
 Winter Day / Meet “Misery”
 Annie Laments
 Dirty Birdy
 Paul Tries To Escape
 Annie’s Idea
 Lighting The Match
 The Ozone
 Misery’s Return
 Hair Clip
 Unappreciative Paul
 Open House
 Go To Your Room
 Snowy Transition
 Oh Paul
 Annie’s Got The Blues
 Kitchen Knife
 Memory Lane
 Paul Waits
 The Needle
 Buster Clues In
 Arriving At The House
 Annie’s Bluff
 Investigating
 Buster’s Last Stand
 The Plan
 Annie’s Final Chapter
 Dinner Vision

To point out the reasons why the CD that Bay Cities put was only 30 Minutes and that is because of the heavy union reuse fees back over 30 years ago since it was recorded in Los Angeles and Nick Redman and Bruce Kimmel could only pay for so much unlike other labels like MCA Records or Warner Bros. Records that could afford to pay those fees at that time. If what I've heard is correct and that is that the score featured a big orchestra and if there's a choir on top of that, the reuse on this one is really high.

The reason the score sounds so good is definitely because of the work of composer/orchestrator Dennis Dreith who was the one who fully realized what Marc Shaiman wanted to do for the film. He's a definitely big part of it and deserves alot of credit.

I can definitely see this coming out but not from Intrada. I can honestly see this from Quartet Records since they've expanded alot more MGM scores in the past and recently.
