While the LP program (as originally released by MGM Records, and incarnated several times on CD, most recently in 2000 by Chapter III) is a fairly comprehensive rendering of the score as it appeared in the movie, it does miss (for me) one of the highlights. Right after the intermission there is a fantasy sequence on the beach (which includes part of a Beethoven piece identified with Rosy's schoolteacher husband) which really deserves to be included. And, as with DOCTOR ZHIVAGO and A PASSAGE TO INDIA, there may also be a fair amount of music recorded but not used in the final film.
