I'd love to see the full score for Amicus' 1971 film "I, Monster", starring Christopher Lee, released on CD. In my opinion, it's one of Carl Davis' best scores. The original recording (as heard in the film) is rather bad, resulting from a short recording time, small orchestra and no money (or at least that's Davis' excuse), but it is still a wonderfully composed piece. Especially brilliant is "Blake's Theme" (available on YouTube). The film is an adaptation of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and Blake is the film's equivalent of Hyde. When Blake first appears he is very childlike and goes around Dr Marlowe's laboratory exploring. This is reflected in the film's theme by a playful and squeaky trumpet solo while the orchestra underneath plays a more sinister underscore. It's a terrific score, never released on CD by a marvellous and well-respected composer.
