I'm still hoping that Intrada could leverage their Universal contacts to put out this great, under-the-radar Mancini score from 1961, I've mentioned this before and wonder if materials still exist at Universal. Since the film's protagonist spent most of his life as an Identity thief to pursue a wide variety of careers, Mancini got to play in lots of different fields--drama, comedy, romance and suspense. There's even a love theme that almost sounds like a precursor to CHARADE.
Anybody else here remember this charming Robert Mulligan film?
Yes, I am old enough to remember. I definitely remember that theme music that was popular enough to be played on the local radio station in New York. To have a complete score on CD would be wonderful.
Yep, I remember both the film and the main theme when it came out. The TV promo for the film featured the main theme in the commercial for it and the theme immediately stuck in my head. Mancini had a great gift and melody and Henry said Victor Young encouraged him.
I would also love to the Mancini's THE GREAT RACE on CD too.
