It's a bit of an indulgence listing this, but the movie itself has the biggest international audience for any Romanian movie. Though Columbia Pictures handled the foreign release for this epic four decades ago, the movie's general unavailability on DVD will probably doom the score to oblivion. I don't even think Kronos would release this (even if suitable musical elements were available) as it's simply too obscure. But that's the listener's loss: the score for this medieval epic is quite extraordinary. But, like Vyacheslav Ovchinnikov's wonderful music for the 1967 version of WAR AND PEACE, this will probably remain in limbo. (Olah prepared a symphonic suite for the movie, but who can tell if it was ever recorded?)
