Hello Roger and Doug !

Hello Intrada fans and all film music enthusiast.

I would like to turn your attention to the wonderful, last epic Miklós Rózsa score for the movie "Sodom and Gomorrah".

Original "Sodom and Gomorrah" soundtrack, recorded in Italy, conducted by Rózsa himself had been released many times, both on LP and CD by Cambria, RCA and BMG. Unfortunatelly all of this releases are not complete. First releases are very short and ommit much of wonderful music.

The longest releases are 2x LP Legend set from 80's and Digitmovies edition, released twice in 2007 and 2015.

Unfortunatelly they are NOT complete scores - many tracks haven't still been released, some of tracks are cropped and some are recorded in mono only and some music is in wrong place comparing to the movie narration.

For example - "Prelude" is cut in half, the biggest battle sequence in Rozsa carrer, "Battle of the Dam" there is only 4:35, where film version is something about 14 minutes long !

But the biggest problem is the sound quality, variable from track to track, sometimes the sound is extremly sharp and unpleasant, sometimes the sound is pushed to one side (like in Prelude), and sometimes the sound is like been recorded from behind the wall (Victory March). Overall the sound quality is very, very poor.

Thank to James Fitzpatrick in 2015 we got complete new recording of this awesome score, with Nic Raine conducting Prague Orchestra, which is FANTASTIC in case of performance and recording and is very faithful to the original. It's just great.

But I still think there is also room for original score and it would be great to finally get original recording in good quality and in definitive release.

As we know about Rozsa scores recorded in Italy, Intrada has found full "Sinbad" score tapes in much better quality than never before and now we have "Sinbad" in definitve release with great booklet with Frank K. DeWald essay.

So maybe is it a chance that you try to search and find original tapes from "Sodom and Gomorah" session and release them in full glory ?

It would be awesome to have this great Rozsa score in complete original form, with Rozsa "over the top" performance and conducting ?

Could Roger Feigelson or Doug Fake say something about this ? It would be really great.

All the best, Michał
