Though Gold's score for this award-winning 1985 mini-series is not lengthy, it is obviously a project which engaged the composer and resulted in some wonderfully effective music. Just as the series manages to be gripping and moving without overstatement, the same can be said of Gold's score. Especially interesting is his use (but not overuse) of choral pedalpoint. If this score is available in the CBS music vaults, any suggestions as to what might be an appropriate complement? |
