This score for the 1990 mini-series (starring Charles Dance in the title role) marked (I think) the final collaboration between the composer and director Tony Richardson. (In fact I believe it was Addison's final assignment for film or television. He was about 70 at the time, and thereafter spent the final 8 years of his life in retirement.) It is decades since I saw the series, but I recall the Addison score was solid. Varese's short-lived off-shoot label Collosal issued 43 minutes on a CD which is hugely difficult to find nowadays. This would definitely be worth adding to the composer's ever-growing discography. (I'm not aware of any of the Colossal releases being re-issued so it's possible Varese may not have an ongoing option.
