Another example of superb comedy scoring by the composer for this odd 1968 World War II movie starring David Niven, Faye Dunaway and Alan Alda. Assuming the musical elements are available and can be released, it's probably too short for a single CD. An excellent (though vastly different) complement would be another 1968 project for director John Frankenheimer, THE FIXER. (A suite of the latter has been recently recorded, but the original tracks have never been available.)

However it begs the question: who is releasing Turner Classic Movies Music titles now that FSM has left the field?

I saw the film on it's first release. I remember it was likable with a great cast and it gave me a few laughs. I also remember thinking that the Maurice Jarre music was good. I'd certainly buy a copy if it ever gets a release...and The Fixer too, but didn't someone (LUkas Kendall?) report that the music elements were missing, what else is new! :D
