Post subject:  HELLO-GOODBYE by Francis Lai

It's strange how music can linger in the senses. It's decades since I've seen this 1970 movie starring Michael Crawford, or heard the vinyl soundtrack album, yet I can effortlessly conjure the main theme. This is interesting because in general I'm not overly fond of Francis Lai. Yet by any terms the music seems to work for this movie. And for lovers of kitsch, the vocal performance of the main theme by Mlle. Gilles has to be heard to be believed! In the case that all that was still available was the album master, perhaps another 1970 Francis Lai project for 20th Century-Fox (also starring Michael Crawford) could fill out a CD. I'm referring to THE GAMES, which on vinyl was one of the hardest to find soundtracks (in company with THE AMOROUS ADVENTURES OF MOLL FLANDERS).
