Is there indeed scope for an expanded edition? The Disney soundtrack released late last year contained 75 minutes of music. The movie itself runs 136 minutes. Would there be another 25 minutes (at least) of music unreleased, or possibly alternate track versions? I know a lot of collectors were incensed when Sony released a 2-disc edition of PHANTOM MENACE several months after issuing a 1 disc version. (I personally haven't bought this latest STAR WARS soundtrack for that same reason.) Any prospects I wonder? (I am a bit disappointed this latest STAR WARS incarnation wasn't recorded with the London Symphony, but nevertheless the performance is fine.)

I hope they release an expanded score for this. I haven't purchased a copy for the same reason. I'm also waiting for expanded editions of Episodes II & III.

Yes. Expanded edition of VII and II and III please!

Seeing the documentaries and how long the recording schedule was, an expanded set would be a gargantuan undertaking for sure. Both the album and FYC contain variants of cues the other does not have (like the opening attack on Jakku pieces) while there was a lot more recorded for the film that got dropped that can be heard in the documentaries included with TFA.

There needs to be an expanded release of all Star Wars films, but given this film's score is 100% in Disney's control (whereas the other six are still under Sony's control until their license runs out, which I am told will be by 2019) it would make sense to do an expanded score soon. Perhaps to celebrate one year since TFA was released, a bit like how the Star Trek DEs came out a year after the films did.
