Is any recording available of the early Elmer Bernstein score THE BATTLES OF CHIEF PONTIAC? I somehow missed this one, but just heard a little from this early 50s score. About time for a "Bernstein Rarities" disc? |

Wow, I had been unaware of this early Bernstein and, having found it on YouTube, I'm surprised that it sounds as much like Elmer as it does, since many of his early westerns show little of his later, post '59 sound. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJgMlpNbid8 |

I've had the DVD for years and have yet to watch it. But I do remember going to see the film in the cinema with a one time film music friend back in the mid 60s. I remember that I enjoyed the music. I doubt very much if any music from this film will ever be released on CD? I hope I'm wrong. |

The Main Title of "Battles Of Chief Pontiac" sounds like a precursor of Bernstein's "Kings of the Sun". ![]() |

Btw speaking of Bernstein's "Kings of the Sun" I wonder if using modern technologies a release of this outstanding score might be possible (using stems...) |

I'd buy it in a flash! The Elmer releases have come to a halt, it seems. It's all so sad. ![]() |

Still hope for A RIVER RUNS THROUGH IT - unused score too... as well as for example THE MEATBALLS! Lack of Bernstein (and JARRE!) releases over the past few years is a BIG disappointment... hopefully we'll get something on 23rd! |
