This short-lived series from the early '70's (starring Rod Taylor and Dennis Cole) may not be as obscure as I imagined, as I see it's available on DVD. While my overall impression of the score after several decades is positive, the main theme is especially indelible, one of the most rousing I've heard for a TV series. Viva Tartaglia and Courage! |

I, too, fondly remember Tartaglia's rousing effort for POWDER KEG, the 90 minute pilot for BEARCATS. I always thought the main theme was influenced in it's feel by the instrumental bridge in the middle of Jimmy Webb's "MacArthur Park." I used to have this flick on a reel-to-reel tape but have misplaced it over the years. This might be buried in that cache of CBS stuff that Lukas and Doug found at--was it USC? |
