From Russia With Love; The Man With the Golden Gun; Moonraker; Octopussy; A View to a Kill

These five are, I believe, the only John Barry Bond's that have not gotten the expanded/complete treatment. I'm anxious to hear the complete scores for the last four, in particular. I especially love the 'gunbarrel' cues for the latter two.

Thanks for listening.

p.s. I added From Russia With Love to this list when I realized it too was incomplete.

I to would love complete versions of these scores because they were magnificent. I did read somewhere however that the masters for these were lost or destroyed. I hope that is wrong and that masters survive somewhere. This is John Barry we're talking about, anything by him that was lost is a major crime.

Lukas Kendall, who produced the 2003 expansions, noted that The Man with the Golden Gun, and possibly The Spy Who Loved Me and Octopussy, had tapes available for expansion but time and budgetary constraints prevented it.

As for today, it has been noted that the foremost issue is utter disinterest on Eon's part.

I think that we're very lucky to have what we have, although Michael Kamen's score really deserves a better presentation. A brilliant sounding and perfectly performed recording such as that should not be chopped-up and arranged in such an odd manner.

I kinda hoped that they would have included the CD with the movie, as it seems each year they put out a new box set of films with new features or fancy packaging & yet people still buy them. Dont get me wrong i like the Bond movies but to have the scores in all their glory, now that would be schplendid.

The Bond films seem to be in the grey area which a few high profile titles seem to fall in. Too big for to pass them over to specialist labels, yet they have no interest in expanding them themselves. Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Titanic all seem to fall into this category as well.
It's a shame but it is what it is. It's hard to complain too much when there are so many other wonderful titles coming out.

Would love to get all the Barry & Arnold scores expanded (sorry Marvin)

With the recent passing of Guy Hamilton, now would be the perfect time to do 'The Man With The Golden Gun'.

With LLL's release of 'Die Another Day', I thought it was time for a bump.

As tremendous as the Die Another Day revelation was, the downside for the labels is that in 2018 the boards will be absolutely rammed with Bond threads! he he :)

I'm not convinced LLL's scope for Bond extends beyond the Arnold scores. If so, that's fine, as DAD and (hopefully TWINE) expansions are major releases as far as I'm concerned and it's thrilling to have them released in their entirety. If nothing else comes I'm happy with those two. I'm not bothered about TND as I have the original CD and the Chapter III release which contain practically all the score between them.

If they are able to release the pre-Arnold titles as well, all power to them. But I'm not looking beyond the Arnolds atm. One step at a time.
