Obviously modelled on THOSE MAGNIFICENT MEN IN THEIR FLYING MACHINES (and even including several of the same cast members), the 1967 movie ROCKET TO THE MOON ignited little interest at the time (and since then unless I'm mistaken). However to my ears the score (composed around the same time as THE LONG DUEL) is quite delightful and worth preservation apart from the movie. The music credits for this movie, however, are a little curious. There is a song entitled "You Must Always Trust the Stranger" with music and lyrics by Ron Goodwin, but no vocal version appears in the movie print I saw. Is this theme actually used in the score itself (i.e. possibly over the opening credits)? The track listings for the extremely rare LP (only issued by Polydor in the U.K.) do not mention the song by its title. (In fact considering that the movie was quite a large budget affair, I suspected that the producers may have approached Goodwin for the entire score. For whatever reason the commission fell to the little known John Scott, who was still billing himself as 'Patrick John Scott'.) I would not be surprised that all that probably survives is the LP master.
