I know you guys already released a CD of this, so I don't know if you would be interested in doing a complete release (or be able to due to some sort of rights issue), but because I would really love to hear this score in complete form and seeing as you guys re-released Jaws 3-D (which Intrada had already released, albeit only an album presentation) and Star Trek IV (a Rosenman score) I thought I'd suggest it. there is quite a few nice unreleased cues in the film, and some revised cues, resulting in about 23 minutes of music not on the OST in the film. (thats not counting alternates or unused music). |

Is it really that much? The film is barely longer than the CD. |

Short Version: Yes. Long Version: Well, there is: An unreleased cue when Gandalf goes to meet Saruman. Four unreleased cues for scenes at Bree (one of them a instrumental source cue, the other the Frodo sings). The music for the attack on Weathertop is unreleased. The cue when we first see Legolas is unreleased. There are five unreleased cues in the Rivendell scenes (one of them is a source cue). The cue when the Fellowship enters Lothlorien is unreleased along with the film version of the Mithrandir song (shorter with children's choir only). The cue when the Fellowship pass the Argonath is unreleased (which has a nice statement of the theme from the Mithrandir song). There are two unreleased cues during Boromir's confrontation with Frodo. The source music for Saruman's speech to his army is unreleased (there is a bit of unused music here, because there is a few notes of muted brass that are abruptly cut-off right after the Orc war drum stuff) There is an unreleased cue for the removal of Grima Wormtounge. There is an unreleased cue during the trek through the marshes. And finally in the film, "The Dawn Battle; Theoden's Victory" and "The Voyage to Mordor; Theme from The Lord of the Rings" were switched around and revised with an insert and a new ending, meaning that the end credits in the film are unreleased on CD. |
