Several movie versions of the Emily Bronte novel have elicited impressive scores (e.g. by Alfred Newman and Michel Legrand), and I would include Sakamoto's music for the 1992 version (starring Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche). In spite of the composer's familiarity in the West to listeners, with such movie scores as MERRY CHRISTMAS, MR LAWRENCE, THE LAST EMPEROR, THE HANDMAID'S TALE and THE SHELTERING SKY, his music for WUTHERING HEIGHTS was only issued in Japan. This omission deserves to be addressed, either with a remastering of the original EMI CD (whose rights would probably be under Universal Music), or a new program created from the music elements (presumably) in the Paramount music vaults. (The performance, by the way, is by the Royal Philharmonic.)
