Though both Chandos and Silva have recorded a 7-minute suite compiled by Philip Lane, this wonderful score deserves to be heard in an extended version. Though the score (which has a sprinkling of sea shanties) is, like the movie, an absolute romp, it also has one of the most exquisite "love themes" ever composed for the screen. Now if only the Warner vaults have the goods! |
