To those who might get upset, forgive my capital letters on the subject heading. THOSE CALLOWAYS was a wonderful Max Steiner score from the Disney vault. Max Steiner spent most of his career after his RKO days at Warner Brothers. Doug or Roger, I know Intrada has a working relationship with Warner Brothers, could you please check into the possibility of releasing some of his superb scores that were composed for Warner Brothers films ? Thank you.

I would appreciate some more of his 60s scores for Warner Bros., which I have no doubt that Intrada has looked into.

All of those relatively popular superhero series releases from La-La Land might be slowing the studio's clearance department down to a crawl.

I think it was Doug who earlier told us that Golden Age scores have become a tougher sell to the bulk of the modern collecting market. (Since Roger is an emphatic Silver Age fan himself, he wouldn't seem a likely "inside agent" pushing for Golden Age releases from Intrada.) And even by the 1960s, the Steiner scores I've heard still invoke his 1940s work in sound and dramatic approach.

Personally, I found the main theme for YOUNGBLOOD HAWKE catchy (as well as its range of variations); but how many copies of it would sell today?

Even Silver Age scores are a tougher sell, as Lukas Kendall once mentioned that Silver Age started to sell like Golden Age towards the end of his label's run. Although, Kritzerland releases a lot of Golden Age scores from Paramount and those certainly seem viable enough for that label.

I think the main issue that labels face with Warner Bros. is balancing priorities with the rate in which the studio operates. MV from La-La Land has mentioned a few times that approvals have been taking a long time there. Couple that with the fact that a good number of more popular scores from the studio still need a release or re-release pushes back stuff like the Steiner scores. Also, Warner Bros. is known not to have everything in their possession when it comes to elements.

All of that said, it looks like Intrada might be releasing Tiomkin's Rio Bravo soon.

The labels have not really given us any Max Steiner at Warner Bros. CDs. Any reason for this? We have been lucky that BYU and SAE have given us some great CDs in the past, but not in recent years. John Morgan and Bill Stromberg have given us many fantastic Steiner new recordings.

Roger or Doug, would you please look into doing a few Max Steiner at WB CDs? What are your thoughts on this guys?

I remember that quite a few years ago Ray Faiola mentioned that complete mag tapes for A Distant Trumpet were in possession for a release by BYU/SAE once licensing issues were sorted. I don't know what has happened since.

Roger, Doug, any chance for a few Max Steiner at Warner Bros. CDs?
