I suspect that this project would be too ambitious for the Excalibur collection, but there must be someone out there willing to undertake such a monster recording. (After all, we've had complete new recordings of QUO VADIS, THE FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE and an impending one for THE BLUE MAX.) I believe there would still be a constituency for a complete recording, as the sound quality of Varese's release of the complete original tracks (i.e. in mono) cries out for current recording technologies. (According to Robert Townson, the ondioline which was used for the original sessions may still be part of the composer's estate. It would be fantastic to have it resurrected for a new recording. (Admittedly current electronic instruments could probably simulate it just as well...)
