As with Quincy Jones, there are numerous soundtrack LPs to premiere on CD from jazz great Kenyon Hopkins. I haven't fully heard a few of them, but I would gladly buy any and all of these albums to support what are probably poor sellers these days.

From what I gather, we have the following 9 soundtrack albums to see released on CD (some say that the CD release of The Hustler is actually a bootleg, though there is the 50-year EU copyright rule that was in place then). There are some exciting pairing possibilities if film elements from the respective studios are not a reasonable option for inclusion.

The Strange One
Eleven Against the Ice
The Hustler
East Side/West Side
The Yellow Canary
Lilith
The Reporter
Mister Buddwing
This Property is Condemned

I have every one of the Kenyon Hopkins scores as well as some of his non-film score recordings, all are favorites, classics!

I'm all for it.

I always find it a shame when music companies that own these soundtrack albums do not jump on archiving the material in this digital age. These are not big money-makers, but is it really that hard for them to transfer the tapes, handle whatever royalties may apply and at least sell them via download?

It seems to usually take a label like Intrada to get them to do anything with this stuff.

Thanks for The Hustler. East Side/West Side was taken care of by Sony Music, with a beautiful sounding transfer made available via download and made-on-demand optical. That's two down.
