A title from the old "Turner" catalogue which is sadly completely unexplored these days. ![]() I know this one could be called a "musical" but the FSM label also did one, so why not one on Intrada, too? This score is possibly the only musical Friedhofer worked on (or at least the only MGM musical?). It's filled which great adaptations of the melodies and beautiful underscore by this master, with some help by the great MGM music department. I only say Salinger! ![]() So what are the chances? |

I have not heard this work yet, but the Turner/Warner archives of MGM scores is indeed very rarely tapped these days. I believe that the last MGM title licensed from there was Then Came Bronson, which of course is a most splendid release. I wonder if it's that licensing these titles has become quite the challenge and a true test of patience. |

After today's splendid Friedhofer tripleheader release this would easily fit into Intrada's hopefully ongoing series of Friedhofer albums (Barbarian and the Geisha, Boy on a Dolphin, ...). A highlight of the score, the Friedhofer arranged "New Moon-Sequence" was re-recorded by John Wilson on one of his great Musical albums: http://www.amazon.com/Thats-Entertainme ... wilson+mgm |
