Since Intrada has dabbled in its share of Columbia LP releases, and LPs in general, I thought that a list of some other very good, albeit lesser known Columbia albums is worthwhile. I created a thread for Laura Mars a while back, but it deserves mention again. These five suggestions range from swinging 60s, to ominous thriller, to straight-up jazz, and all the way to fun, upbeat disco songs. Some of the albums are very short, so perhaps a slightly lower price than usual would attract a significant number of additional buyers? I of course do not know how that method has been working out for the other labels. The Spy with a Cold Nose (1966) - Riz Ortolani Eyes of Laura Mars (1978) - Artie Kane The Sand Castle (1961) - Alec Wilder Faces (1968) - Jack Ackerman & Various Disco 9000 (1976) - Johnnie Taylor The Spy with a Cold Nose Eyes of Laura Mars Faces |

I love the jaunty sixties sound of The Spy With A Cold Nose (& I remember enjoying the movie, but I haven't seen it for many decades). I suppose the trouble with the album is that it's only just over 27 minutes long, which doesn't bother me at all. I wonder if it could be paired-up with another album? I'd be happy to buy it on its own. |
