Although there was a 24-minute suite recorded in Poland for Koch some years ago, I'm thinking of a CD debut of the performance conducted by the composer with the National Philharmonic Orchestra for RCA in 1978. As produced by Charles Gerhardt, this was an off-shoot of the Classic Film Score Series. With such an incisive perfomance and the customary superb engineering by Kenneth Wilkinson, this is a title which deserves to be resurrected on CD. |
