Am I the only one who actually thinks "Ghost Story" is like a cult classic horror film? I think Philippe Sarde did an amazing score for this movie. If these recordings still exist, I would love it if a complete soundtrack for this film was available someday (hint, hint Intrada).

I have to be honest and say that I thought "Ghost Story" was laughable. It was nice to see four great actors together but they just didn't have a good story to work with. Aside from that, it was interesting to see those actors work together although I was disappointed that they didn't have more time together.

As for the score, it was very good. I would definitely go for a re-release. Varese Sarabande I believe holds the rights to it and they rarely re-release their old stuff unless there is some sort of advantage to them. I hate that but that's the way it's been.

Yes, yes, yes! Please release this! I understand the licensing was the same situation as with "PSYCHO II", "EXPLORERS" and "CONAN THE BARBARIAN" - MCA allowed Varese for a limited time to do it.

How many would love a complete or at least re-mastered GHOST STORY score?

I collect creepy scores. Philippe Sarde composed two horror film scores, Roman Polanski's The Tenant (1976) and Ghost Story (1981) and both are brilliant.

Ghost Story is a genuinely creepy score in search of a good movie / decent ghost story.

I'll buy a remaster and / or the complete score in a heartbeat.

Halloween with its massive merchandizing is only seven months away and a few horror scores would make the season.

I will admit that the film is lacking is story especially if compared to Peter Straub's novel. There was so much more that could have been done with this film. However the score is perhaps the creepiest aspect of the film and there are so many good cues that didn't make the soundtrack. There are also alternate versions of cues used in the film that I prefer to the soundtrack versions such as "Demise". The film version is far creepier when it includes the main title theme. So it would be great to have a complete score in sequence to the film with the film version of all the cues and then bonus tracks could be the soundtrack album versions of the alternate cues. I don't think getting the rights should be a problem because Varese has already allowed Intrada to reissue many of their soundtracks already.

I'm always up for more Philippe Sarde.
