I just recently noticed a thread on the FSM forum where La-La Land said that they have no interest in releasing a definitive version of this score. Well, I think a release of the film tracks, if available, along with the album presentation would do well for Intrada. This is easy for me to say since my money isn't on the line, but I truly believe it as it's a popular film with a very well-known musical figure behind the score. In my opinion, this work represents the quintessence of gritty Silver Age scoring done well. Now, given that it's a Paramount film from 1974, this all might be moot because the studio is said to have next to nothing from the mid-60s through 1974 and film music stems are not always a viable source. I suppose that there is still a small possibility. |

I would love to have Death Wish in all it's glory, along with Death Wish 2, 3 & 4. |

I concur. Based on LLL's outright rejection of this title and the proprietor's snarky comments about Jerry "pissing in a can" and producing a better score than Herbie, it may be that this is a title that would do well on the vinyl reissue market, which tends to attract non-traditional soundtrack fans, i.e. d.j.s and people who come to the film music from other genres such as funk, jazz, hip hop, pop, and r & b, i.e. people who dig the entire catalog of Herbie Hancock, Quincy Jones, and the like. Which reminds me, how great is Quincy's score to $ (DOLLARS)? |
