I've been wanting a release of this score since I first saw this movie because it practically makes the movie what it is. I'm surprised there has been no release of it before. Mr. Searle did a nice job with the score and it would be splendid if it got a release. |

Alas, the tapes for this score are lost (and were most likely destroyed some time ago), as are a number of other London-recorded MGM scores. The score's been called a favorite by many of the people who run the specialty labels - I know Intrada's own Roger Feigelson has praised it here, and they'd definitely release it if they could. Our best hope for hearing Searle's brilliant work would probably be as a re-recording. |

Unless of course there is some other surviving masters of the score that we don't know about. Perhaps even take it from a film stock which has happened quite a bit with other scores. That's my hope anyway. |

Next time I'm on my running trail I'll see if there are any tapes for this in the bushes. Seriously, it was a real bummer when I first read that the tapes are missing. This probably would have been a very early FSM release if they were readily available. |

We can only hope that they're are some locked away somewhere. I'm amazed this score never got a release before on vinyl. It seems to be a very popular one, more than I realized. |
