I am a new Intrada super-fan, thanks to the announcement of the "Psycho II" expanded soundtrack! Way to go!

I agree with those who are hoping for a complete score to "Psycho III" release.

Some reasons why Psycho III would make a great release...

1) A truncated version was released on MCA records and cassettes, but no CD was ever commercially available.

2) This is Carter Burwell's second score of a major motion picture, after scoring the Coen Brothers' "Blood Simple." Director Anthony Perkins hired Burwell, because Perkins wanted his film to have a similar tone to "Blood Simple." "Psycho III" has a completely different texture to it than the other films in the series, thanks in large part to Burwell's music and the creative lighting. Burwell has gone to have a hugely successful and varied film scoring career. I'm sure his fans would love to see "Psycho III" released on CD.

3) Fans could finally get the love (sex) saxaphone theme as it appeared in the film. As extra tracks, we could get "Scream of Love" as it was heard on the MCA record, plus the remixes of "Scream of Love."

4) Many of the music cues have never been released, and they are ALL fascinating cues... an effective blend of orchestral and electronic music... pop songs (such as the one in the diner when Maureen Coyle drops her suitcase, inspiring a reprise of the original shower scene), more nun's chanting...

5) On the MCA recording, the main title "Maureen in the Desert" is missing the ominous music when the words "Psycho III" appear on the screen.

6) It would be great to hear all the music cues in order. They certainly are not in the correct order on the MCA soundtrack.

7) Interest in Psycho is healthy right now, thanks, in part, to A&E's Bates Motel series.

Bring it on! And those unabashedly cheesy songs as well.

I'm not overly familiar with the PSYCHO III score, but I'm intrigued because Burwell collaborated with Stanton Miranda, his cohort from Thick Pigeon, the band that predates his time as a film composer. Although New York-based, Thick Pigeon released an LP on the legendary Manchester label, Factory.

Great work with the "Psycho II" release! Well done to everyone involved! Yes, I have ordered my copy and am eagerly awaiting its arrival but in the mean time, let me put my YES (!) vote for a full release of Carter Burwell's original score for "Psycho III". That would be an amazing addition to any soundtrack collection for sure!

This was one of my first bought LP soundtracks and I love it alot. Not as good as Herrman or Goldsmith but good enough to not be missed and expanded on a great Intrada CD
