This was the composer's final film score of the '70's, and undoubtedly one of his most lyrical. It would probably make sense to the use the 40-minute program as originally released on LP. In case it was felt that this should be part of a double-bill soundtrack, I can't think of a better companion from Universal Music than the LP program for RED SKY AT MORNING by BIlly Goldenberg, inasmuch as both albums include a fair amount of 1940's popular music. (In the case of YANKS, re-recorded, and for the latter, original performances. I believe MCA had the rights to all the popular music used in RED SKY.) |
