I'm sure I am not alone in hoping that one day Intrada might somehow, one day, overcome a mountain of obstacles to release the Original Motion Picture Soundtracks of these 3 seminal cult classics. Any thoughts on how or even when this could ever happen would be greatly appreciated  My favorite soundtracks released by Intrada include Alien, The Thing, Black Rain, Manhunter and Klute. |

Man Who Fell, aside from being one of my absolute top 5 fave films, is a 'holy grail' soundtrack to me too - Eagle Records (!?!?) almost released it once, but cancelled due to not enough music (again, !?!??!). I guess they were working on just the John Phillips material, but even then I'm sure 30mins would be more than nothing, if that's all there really was. Of course, for it to really work, they'd have to license most if not all the songs used too. There are allegedly sketches of some Phillips cues on one of his albums - if there is interest, I'll dig up the title. I have it, but didn't hear anything familiar to my ears. Not sure about Being There, but The Shining has a good chance - at least of a straight reissue of the old Warner LP. Perseverance has been reissuing from those labels. I'm sure it's bound to happen. |

Thank you for posting a reply so soon, GoblinScore. I'm heartened by your optimism regarding a possible re-release of The Shining; that would be a revelation ! I love all the classical music used in Being There- the opportunity of owning it all on one disc is one of the reasons I wish this soundtrack could be released. I think one of the reasons The Man Who Fell to Earth was never released was something to do with the many different artists featured on the soundtrack, and there would be a minefield of copyright logistics which, so far, has unfortunately prevented this highly elusive soundtrack from ever seeing the light of day. Being There seems to have suffered a somewhat similar fate

Well I hope all three see (laser) light someday! The Shining in particular is dumb founding to not be on cd, but again, lame rights issues probably. ... There are 2cds on Wendy Carlos label East-West, that has her cues & a lot of fascinating unused material - their called Rediscovering Lost Scores, check em out - will have to do in the meantime! - Sean |
