This has been mentioned in other threads many times, of course, but I thought it was high time this great score got its own suggestion box topic. I recently re-watched the film for the sole purpose of catching the music that didn't make it onto the (really great) Bay Cities release. There is a wealth of material out there that would make a new, complete release a truly wonderful thing to have, especially from the Mombi scenes and ESPECIALLY the thunderous brass music when Dorothy steals the key and get chased by an enraged, headless witch. The mastering of the existing CD is pretty awesome to my ears already, but I am sure a modern touch-up wouldn't hurt either. I'm blissfully unaware of any licensing or missing element issues that there may be, and so I hold out hope that this will get what I call "the royal Intrada treatment" some day soon. |

As Intrada has an association with Disney, I'm confident this may be in the offing. A truly majestic orchestral score, one which demonstrates how sadly neglected this composer has been. |

Yes, more Shire would be greatly welcomed. The Promise, Something for Joey, Fast Break and Harpy would be especially appreciated. |

HARPY! Boy, it's interesting to find anyone remembering that early 70's made-for-tv film. I'm personally fond of a couple of John Badham tv flicks that Shire did--ISN'T IT SHOCKING with Allan Alda and THE IMPATIENT HEART with Carrie Snodgrass and Michael Brandon. By all means, bring on a complete version of RETURN TO OZ. |

A complete Return to oz score would be very nice - I am not sure how much was missing from the original release apart from sections near when the Gnome kings palace falls apart.. One of our dinosaurs is missing and Return to oz would be on my Disney 'to get list' |

Yes, RETURN TO OZ! A complete score CD release would be a reason to rejoice! The Bay Cities CD is nice, but so many music cues are missing from it. The eerie cue in the asylum that accompanies the screeching gurney wheels and the hissing of the nurse's long dress is a piece sorely missing from the Bay Cities release. "The Flight of the Gump," one of the most exciting (and big-movie sounding) cues has been, in my opinion, unforgivably altered for the Bay Cities album. The suspenseful music when Dorothy sprinkles the Powder of Life on the creature is missing. I agree with the person above who mentioned the brass music when Dorothy steals the key...that's missing from Bay Cities. The music where Dorothy is floating past the jewels in the Nome King's caverns is also not on the Bay Cities album. Even the first percussive musical note of the very opening to the movie was changed for the Bay Cities album. Would love to see the RETURN TO OZ score released in it's complete awesomeness on CD. |

So what are the odds of a complete release of ISNT IT SHOCKING? by Shire? Is Intrada getting his recordings from a studio or library archive somewhere? |
