I naively thought that Varese would eventually get around to releasing Bernstein's wonderful Emmy-nominated music for this Universal TV mini-series, but I don't see why Intrada couldn't do it. |

I don't remember a note of this score, yet from watching only the final installment of the series I recall feeling it deserved an album release. Of course (in 1975?) I had no expectation that it could actually happen. But nearly 40 years later we're in a completely different environment for film- and television-score fans -- and quite a lot of TV music probably less deserving than this Bernstein work has already made it to disc. Niall and TNF, you don't have to splurge for 500 copies each; I'd buy one without even needing the audio samples! |
