Philippe Sarde has done some terrific scores in the past ('Quest for Fire' is one of my favorites), and 'Ghost Story' is near the top of the pack. The main title alone is perfect listening for a cold Halloween night, and the spooky organ that accompanies the cue "Fright" for the last forty five seconds is positively blood-curdling.
Universal had a bunch of nice horror scores during the late seventies/early eighties (Williams' "Dracula" in '79, Psycho II, Craig Safan's Nightmares, Rosenman's The Car) and Sarde's score for this film stands right alongside of them. At least, it does for me.
